Welcome to Timelyne ("we," "our," or "us"). Timelyne is a personal storytelling application that helps you capture, organize, and preserve your life's moments through voice recordings that are transformed into written narratives.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). We understand that your voice recordings and personal stories are deeply intimate, and we are committed to protecting your privacy with the highest standards of care.
Your stories are yours. We process your data only to provide and improve our Service. We never sell your personal information, voice recordings, or generated content to third parties. Your memories remain private unless you choose to share them.

4. AI Processing & Third-Party Services
Your voice recordings and transcripts are processed by artificial intelligence systems to provide our core services. This includes third-party AI providers. Please read this section carefully.
4.1 Third-Party AI Services
We use the following third-party services to process your data:

- Your voice recordings are transcribed to text

- AI generates summaries, titles, and full articles based on your content
- Generated content is stored in your personal library
4.3 AI Training & Your Data
We do not use your personal voice recordings or stories to train AI models. Third-party AI providers may have their own data usage policies. As of our last review:
- OpenAI: API data is not used for training by default under their business terms
We regularly review our providers' policies and will update you of any material changes.
5. Data Storage & Security
5.1 Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase, with servers located in the United States. Audio files, transcripts, stories, and account information are encrypted both in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
5.2 Security Measures
- Encryption: All data encrypted in transit and at rest
- Authentication: Secure password hashing, optional two-factor authentication
- Access Controls: Role-based access, principle of least privilege
- Monitoring: Continuous security monitoring and logging
- Regular Audits: Periodic security assessments and penetration testing
5.3 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and the device(s) you use to access Timelyne. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your device secure.
6. Data Retention

When you delete content or your account, we remove your data from our active systems within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently deleted.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
7.1 Access & Portability
You can access your data anytime within the app. You may request a complete export of your data including all voice recordings, transcripts, and stories in a portable format.
7.2 Correction
You can edit your account information, stories, and articles directly within the app. Contact us for assistance with any data you cannot modify yourself.
7.3 Deletion
You can delete individual voice recordings, stories, or articles at any time. You may also request complete account deletion, which will permanently remove all your data from our systems.
7.4 Restriction & Objection
You may request that we restrict processing of your data or object to certain processing activities. Note that this may limit your ability to use certain features.
7.5 Withdraw Consent
Where we rely on consent for processing, you may withdraw consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

8. Data Sharing & Disclosure
8.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, voice recordings, or stories to third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever.
8.2 When We May Share Data
- Service Providers: With trusted vendors who help us operate our Service (as listed in Section 4), under strict contractual obligations
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or legal process
- Safety: To protect the rights, safety, and property of Timelyne, our users, or the public
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share specific information
8.3 Aggregated & Anonymized Data
We may share aggregated, anonymized data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for research, analytics, or business purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
Timelyne is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at david@tappedin.network, and we will delete such information.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country.
When we transfer data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards including:
